If you’re bleeding this weekend

If you’re bleeding this weekend, change the linen on your bed today.
Choose your favourite set: the one you love to press the backs of
your shoulders into. A texture, a colour that says — climb in, beautiful one
and rest here now.
If you’re bleeding this weekend, take a long and deep breath.
Here with me now: in through the nose and two, three, hold…
then out —
and let this last cycle go.
If you’re bleeding this weekend, I want you to go to your cupboards.
Take to your fridge and to your freezer; we’re going to need supplies
for meals that warm the belly and perhaps some tiny chocolate morsels
that soothe the heart.
If you’re bleeding this weekend, I hope you can take a horizontal moment.
Whether your blood arrives with pain or bliss, or a little of both,
find a tree to sit by,
to bleed by, to be by.
