Do period undies work? (Or: which reusable menstrual products do I recommend?)

After decades of virtually zero innovation in the world of menstrual product options, it's exciting to see new options consistently hitting the market at the moment! Reusable menstrual products like menstrual cups, washable pads, and period undies make my heart (and the planet, and vaginas all over the world) happy. But I hear your questions: what do you do with a menstrual cup and do period undies work?

I've answered your questions in this video, as I take you through my reusable menstrual product collection. I'm really proud of the fact that I haven't used a tampon or disposable sanitary pad for over three years! That's a whole lot of waste (not to mention cash) saved.

As well as the eco-friendly nature and financial benefits of using reusable menstrual products, I also have better cycle and body literacy now as I can see the colour, quantity and quality of my blood, a more embodied experience of bleeding (as I'm not just mindlessly flushing a tampon), far less cramping and period pain, and less bulk to carry around when traveling.

What's important to remember is that our bodies are all so different, and what works for me, might not work for you.

Experimentation and an open mind is key. Let me know in the comments which reusable menstrual products you use or have tried, and if you have any more questions on the topic. Nothing is too weird or "gross" to ask! ;-)

Reusable menstrual product brands I use:

Period undies:
Knix,Thinx & Modibodi for period undies

Menstrual cups:
Juju & Mooncup menstrual cups

Reusable pads:
Luna pads, eco femme & Plim protection

If you're curious about better understanding your menstrual cycle and your body, do check out my much-loved book Adore Your Cycle, available here as an instant digital download either as an eBook or audiobook. Or both!

Big love,
